Boyle heads merged Sanyo sales and marketing teams

Sanyo has consolidated the management teams for its consumer electronics and commercial divisions. The new team will be headed by sales and marketing director John Boyle.

Boyle, who has been with Sanyo for 20 years, was previously sales and marketing director for the commercial division, but his role has now been extended to include the consumer arm. He will head three sales teams across presentation technology, CCTV and consumer electronics.

The restructure was sparked by the departure of Peter Eldon, sales and marketing director for the consumer electronics division, after he clashed with management over strategic direction (MW February 2).

Boyle says that the reorganisation will help the company to maximise cross-selling opportunities.

Boyle was promoted to sales and marketing director for the commercial team from general manager of the consumer electronics division in 2001 (MW July 5, 2001).

It is not clear what the changes will mean for the company’s advertising strategy. Sanyo has been working with Bell Design on campaigns for its flat screen LCD screens, on a project basis. Its last media agency of record was Frontline Media.
