Pernod Ricard hands The Glenlivet to Ogilvy

Pernod Ricard is tipped to appoint Ogilvy Group to its global advertising roster with a brief for its malt whisky brand The Glenlivet.

The final pitch was between Ogilvy and M&C Saatchi. The pitch was handled by Agency Assessments.

The brief for the agency will be to raise awareness of the brand in its key markets, which include the US and Europe. The core range of the brand includes the 12 Year Old and the 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve.

Pernod Ricard bought the brand in 2003, and its aim since the acquisition has been to make it the leading premium malt in the world.

The Glenlivet is currently the second-biggest selling malt whisky in the world, trailing behind Glenfiddich, owned by William Grant & Sons. The Glenlivet notched up a sales increase of 10% in the first half of its financial year.
