Britvic is adding two flavours to its “better-for-you” carbonate drink Tango Clear a year after the launch of original Apple & Watermelon Tango Clear.
Tango Clear Orange and Tango Clear Raspberry & White Cranberry – both aimed at health-conscious 18- to 30-year-olds – will come in 330ml cans and 500ml and two-litre bottles.
Their launch coincides with new and simplified labelling for the range to “enhance on-shelf and chiller standout”. The no-added-sugar message is being made larger to highlight the drink’s “healthier” credentials.
Britvic category director Andrew Marsden says the no-added-sugar category has helped reinvigorate the previously declining carbonates sector.
The fruit-flavoured carbonates sector is worth &£359m – which represents a 7% value share of the take-home market.
Marsden says: “Diet, low and no-sugar drinks continue to rise in popularity and will shape the fortunes of not just the fruit-flavoured carbonates sub-category, but the entire soft drinks market in the future.”
In a trading statement yesterday (Tuesday), Britvic said it was confident of delivering full-year results in line with market expectations, but added profitability dropped in the first half of the financial year because of higher energy and raw materials costs.
