The Ritz has appointed Electric to handle a promotional drive to celebrate the hotel’s centenary. The agency will also create a direct marketing campaign as part of the push.

Electric’s work includes a corporate film for use on and off-line, as well as an integrated campaign about the centenary itself. The direct marketing campaign will take the form of four mailings over the next 12 months. The agency won the business following a pitch against several undisclosed agencies.

The Ritz celebrates its centenary next month. Since returning to private ownership in 1995, more than &£25m has been invested in refurbishing the Grade II listed building.

The Ritz’s director of sales and marketing Ruth Jones says of the new campaign: “We have been able to bring a new design integrity and consistency to the way we talk to our customers.”

Electric was appointed to handle Korean car manufacturer SsangYong’s &£2m advertising account earlier this year (MW January 26).
