Atari is rolling out a collection of iconic classic Hasbro games for the Nintendo DS handheld console.

The package is another move by the games companies to capitalise on the growing trend for nostalgia. The launch is called “Monopoly, Boggle, Yahtzee, Battleship” and will be available across Europe from June next month.

The popular 1970s games of Monopoly, Boggle, Yahtzee and Battleship have been firm family favourites for decades. In their new formats the Atari/Hasbro games will target a new market of young Nintendo DS players, as well as appealing to women – a market segment the games industry is keen to attract.

Monopoly, Boggle, Yahtzee, Battleship is under licence from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro. The four-in-one package marks the latest in a raft interactive launches based on Hasbro intellectual properties.

Last month, US-based toy giant Hasbro rolled out an online version of its FIFA World Cup 2006 Monopoly board game (MW April 27). Meanwhile, earlier this year, iconic 1970s board game Mastermind was relaunched as a mobile phone game, developed by Glu Mobile and Interactive Rights Management (MW February 3).

The Hasbro Properties Group has one of the toy industry’s richest brand portfolios, and core properties include Transformers, Duel Masters and My Little Pony.
