SSL International, owner of Durex condoms and Scholl sandals, has promoted Cliff Stubbs to the role of UK marketing director. The appointment follows the departure of John Zaheer Flaherty, who left the company earlier this year (MW February 9).

Stubbs is understood to have held a variety of marketing roles at SSL although the company declined to comment on his work history or appointment. Flaherty, a former United Biscuits marketer, joined SSL in 2000 as a brand manager for Durex Condoms, becoming UK marketing director for SSL’s full brand portfolio in October 2004.

He was responsible for several major launches including Durex Easy On condoms and the roll-out of the Durex Play range of massage oils and sex toys last summer.

SSL’s advertising account is handled by McCann-Erickson with media planning and buying through Universal McCann Manchester.
