1576 Advertising wins brief to work on NAB bank brands

1576 Advertising, the Edinburgh-based full-service agency, has been appointed to National Australia Bank’s (NAB) marketing services roster. It will work on NAB’s Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank brands.

It is thought 1576 will be working on direct marketing for the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank brands, although the brief could also cover some above-the-line work. Traditionally, NAB’s advertising has always been created in house.

The move to appoint the agency follows the culmination of a media pitch last month, which saw incumbent MediaVision Manchester reinforce its hold on the &£4m business, which it has held for nine years.

Industry insiders have hinted that the two bank brands might be merged under one umbrella, although bank sources have constantly denied this, saying the two brands have strong regional footprints.

However, product development, marketing activity and backroom functions are increasingly being run centrally.
