Clemmow Hornby Inge (CHI) and ACP-NatMag have parted company after two years.
The AAR has already started putting together a shortlist of agencies for the publishing house. ACP-NatMag titles include Best, Reveal, and the recently launched Real People.
CHI worked on the launch campaign for Reveal and Real People, which had budgets over &£6m. However, the business is now thought to be worth only &£1m. CHI will continue to work on National Magazine Company titles Cosmopolitan and Men’s Health. However, the two titles spend very little on marketing and advertising.
CHI was appointed by ACP-NatMag’s managing director Jessica Burley. The review of the business followed the arrival of group publishing director Andrew Kirkland in December 2005, and included its &£5m media planning and buying business. Last week, the publisher appointed Rocket to handle its media account following a four-way pitch including ZenithOptimedia, MindShare and the incumbent, Initiative.
CHI managing partner Johnny Hornby says/ “We enjoyed working on the new titles. But we understand that sometimes new teams want a new broom.”
The National Magazine Company joined the women’s weekly market when it acquired Best and Prima from Gruner & Jahr in 2000.
It consolidated its position in 2004 by entering into a joint venture with Australian Consolidated Press (leading to the creation of ACP-NatMag) which took over the management of the existing weeklies, before embarking on the high-profile, launch of Reveal, its first celebrity title, and more recently Real People.
