BT lines up head of brand for group marketing role

BT head of brand Suzi Williams is understood to be in line for the top marketing role in the telecoms giant’s new-look group marketing and brand team.

Sources say Williams will be promoted as part of the restructure that will see group marketing and brand director Tim Evans moved to a more strategic planning role (MW June 29).

However, it is thought that the 80-strong team headed by Evans will be scaled back to a handful of marketers and much of the power transferred to the “lines of business” – the name given to BT’s divisions, including BT Retail and BT Broadband. It is understood that the majority of the group marketing team will be distributed among the different divisions following the restructure.

Williams, a former Procter & Gamble, Orange and BBC marketer who joined BT from GCap Media at the start of the year (MW January 12), will be responsible for the BT brand and its agency relationships in her new role.
