Carbon Trust in review of 50m marketing communications

The Carbon Trust has begun a 50m advertising and communications statutory review. The news comes as the Government announces the findings of its Energy Review.

McCann Erickson of the InterPublic Group handles advertising for the government-funded body. Media buying and planning is by Universal McCann. Omnicom-owned Tequila/London and Creston’s Tullo Marshall Warren are on Carbon Trust’s direct marketing roster. It is thought all roster agencies will tender for the business.

The pitch will cover all areas of marketing and communications for the next four years. This includes online and digital marketing, events, market research, design and print, and branding.

Carbon Trust director of marketing and communications Peter Hambly says: “We have been very successful in establishing the Carbon Trust as a key player in the drive to a low-carbon economy – a leading and necessary business opportunity to combat the growing threat of climate change. We need to help even more businesses and organisations to cut energy use, reduce carbon emissions and invest in low-carbon solutions.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for marketing and communications agencies to work with us on the greatest environmental challenge the UK, and the world, faces in the years ahead.”

Last month The Carbon Trust beefed up its mar- keting team, appointing Shaun Bell as head of marketing and Vanessa Gibbin as senior campaign manager. Bell, who reports to Hambly, moved from lottery operator Camelot where he was relationship marketing manager (MW June 8).
