Founder gives Aquados new lease of life

Aquados founder Gerry Hinton has relaunched his detergent company under a different name after buying its assets from the administrators.

Aquados UK Ltd was placed in administration earlier this year (MW July 6), with the Yorkshire-based accountancy firm Gibson Booth appointed to handle its liquidation.

Hinton says the move was prompted by the with- drawal of a major, unnamed investor, which created a need for funding. He has since bought the assets from Aquados UK Ltd and relaunched a new company named Aquados Ltd.

It is understood that Aquados will continue to market its patented power-in- a-bag product in the UK, and also has new launches planned for later this year.

Aquados’s last major marketing push included a regional TV campaign and sampling drive to promote travel-sized packs of washing powder (MW September 29, 2005).

The packs contained two 50g sachets and were des- igned to be enough for two washes, in a bid to target holiday-makers using self-catering apartments.
