Staunton waves Ciao goodbye to join Pangora

Pangora, the Lycos-owned shopping comparison engine, has appointed Rob Staunton as the new head of its UK operations.

The previous head of UK, Chris Hitchen, has left the company and is now working independently with a number of online and mobile firms.

Staunton joins Pangora from rival price comparison firm Ciao UK, where he was head of e-commerce. Before that he was head of sales for the world’s largest comparison shopping portal, Shopping.com.

Pangora managing director Christoph Röck said the company plans to introduce new search technology and increase interactivity as it attempts to build its market share in the UK. At present, the company’s main competitors in the UK include Froogle and Kelkoo.
