Tabletalk breaks into university ads

Tabletalkmedia, the out-of-home advertising company, has signed a raft of deals to sell advertising space in UK universities for the first time. The company is expected to launch its first campaign in the next month to coincide with the start of the new university term.

It has signed separate deals with student unions at 75 of the country’s universities, including Manchester, Bristol and Exeter. The deals mean the company can now offer advertisers a potential reach of 1.5 million students, or 70% of the total student population. According to Tabletalkmedia, 95% of them visit their student union bar at least once a week.

Tabletalkmedia will be competing for a share of advertisers’ budgets with companies such as Redbus Outdoor, which has a network of six-sheet posters on 84 campuses, and JVTV, whose SubTV television network is installed in 51 student unions.

Until now, Tabletalkmedia’s network has been focused on the Benjys and Coffee Republic coffee chains, and a number of motorway service stations. In its two-year history, it has run campaigns from advertisers such as Sony Ericsson, Masterfoods and Unilever.
