The niche digital channel, which is produced by Ten Alps, is also in talks with other media owners about developing content for a number of different platforms.

It is also relaunching its website to encourage teachers to access its resources and downloads, such as online programming and classroom aids. The site will continue to syndicate its programmes across other websites including Guardian Unlimited and Teachernet.

Teachers’ TV, which is owned and financed by the Department for Education & Skills, launched in February last year and has been trialling advertising across the site, which has just been extended.

Ten Alps will also launch its public sector TV internet venture in November, which is expected to build on a similar model to Teachers’ TV. The company, which unveiled plans for public.tv in June following its acquisition of publisher McMillan-Scott, will give the venture a soft launch in the autumn. A full launch of the broadband-only service is expected in the spring.
