SkinStore, an online US skincare retailer, is extending its operations to the UK with the launch of a new online consumer skin and beauty service SkinStore.co.uk.

The site, which goes live this week, offers consumers access to over 2,500 skincare and anti-ageing products from over 100 suppliers ranging from Elizabeth Arden to Dermalogica.

The range is a mix of well-known retail brands and specialist skincare products only available from physicians and spa outlets. The company plans to take on specialist beauty chains such as SpaceNK and department stores including Harvey Nichols and Harrods.

The launch is being supported by an online and offline marketing campaign developed with brand consultancy Fresh Communications, which was appointed to handle media activities.

Phil Rooke, managing director of SkinStore Europe, will head the European operation and will be responsible for logistics, marketing, order fulfilment, product sourcing and suppliers.

Rooke, a former director of tesco.com, plans to roll out the service across Europe next year with the launch of a number of spa outlets across the UK set to follow.
