BT hunts agency for international expansion

BT is planning to double its revenues from key international markets within three years, and is on the hunt for a new digital agency to help with its growth plans.

Currently the BT Global Services division earns most of its money from the UK and Western Europe. However, BT says that revenues from the US, Japan, India and China will more than double by 2008/9 and it is also looking to expand its global network into new markets.

Over the same period two key European markets, Italy and Germany, will bring in over €1bn each a year.

The telecoms giant is looking for a new digital agency to develop the online advertising for the BT Global Services division and says it is keen to sign up an agency with experience in Asian markets.

BT Global Services works with large businesses across the globe. Its chief executive Andy Green claimed this morning that BT’s brand is now becoming as familiar to businessmen in New York, Tokyo, Mumbai and Shanghai as it is in Europe.

BT Global Services employs 27,500 people across 53 countries. It supplies services in more than 170 countries, with clients including Reuters, Unilever, Philips and the NHS. Over the past year the division saw 15% growth.
