BT has teamed up with US-based Podshow to launch a new online social media network enabling users to access music and video clips across the entertainment and music industry.

Adding to its converged services including BT Fusion and BT Movio the site – BT Podshow – is being positioned alongside the likes of video site YouTube and MySpace as an entertainment hub for online users. The idea behind the venture is to enable individual users to access personal "media centres" where they can upload and share their own content.

To coincide with the launch, BT is calling for film producers, musicians, presenters and DJs across the UK to contribute content.

BT will continue to build the content offering on the site featuring audio and visual entertainment from established artists, mainstream media outlets as well as individuals and independent producers.

The telecoms giant has also indicated plans to roll out the service to mobile phones and extend the "best of" show to its soon-to-be launched BT Vision broadband TV offering.

BT and Podshow will split revenue from advertising across the website.
