TBG strikes deal over TV-style ads on first online channel

YourKindaTV, the UK’s first online television channel, has signed a deal with full-service digital agency TBG London that sees the portal run TV-style ads in a short-term trial.

Ads from Ocean Finance and Tempur, the niche bedding specialist, will run on the channel. They will be the only TV-style ad spots to run on the dedicated portal and the deal marks the first time TBG has invested in advertising of this kind.

The ads will run for 30 seconds before and after Your-KindaTV’s content. The agreement is for three months initially, with the potential to be extended, dependent on the campaigns’ results.

YourKindaTV broadcasts content, which is specifically designed for online and mobile consumption. A portfolio of exclusive five-minute online TV programmes includes YourKindaPlace, YourKindaNews and Your-KindaTherapy. They can be viewed on the website or via downloads purchased from iTunes.

TBG managing director Simon Mansell says: "TV is undoubtedly going online more and more, so we wanted to be the first to exploit the new opportunities of internet TV and ensure our clients were at the forefront of technological developments. We will monitor the results of this campaign very closely before making further decisions regarding this platform."

YourKindaTV launched this month and is aimed at 18 to 30-year-olds. The channel hopes viewing figures will reach 100,000 viewers a week over the coming year.
