Yahoo! Europe picks Zapatero for new European role

Yahoo! Europe has promoted Javier Rodriguez Zapatero to the new role of vice-president, European sales, as it attempts to sell a consolidated proposition to advertisers.

Zapatero, who was general manager of Yahoo! in Spain, will also continue with his existing role.

He will now be responsible for developing a consolidated proposition that will provide a better service to key advertisers and will bring the three existing sales teams, media, Yahoo! search marketing and e-commerce, closer together.

Zapatero will focus on developing a pan-European sales strategy and create and manage a European trade-marketing department that will also liaise with key advertisers and agencies.

He will report to Dominique Vidal, regional vice-president and managing director Europe and will also work closely with the executive vice-president of global sales Greg Coleman and Christophe Parcot, vice-president of southern Europe.

Zapatero joined Yahoo! in 1999 as commercial and marketing director for Spain. He has also held the European media sales director post.

Prior to joining the online media giant he held a variety of sales and marketing positions at SC Johnson at Proctor & Gamble.
