What keeps you busy all day?

Juggling the needs of ten diverse markets across the globe with a focus on generating awareness and trial of our brands, driving sales and being the custodian of the Boots brand internationally.

What keeps you awake at night?

Nottingham club Whish, the usual haunt of the Boots Retail International team on a night out.

Describe your working day:

Very much depends on whether out in the market or in the office. When out, the day will consist of partner meetings, meeting various marketing agencies and store visiting. I catch up with emails and calls on the move.

In the office, Im generally at my desk by 8:30am, then theres a team ritual of breakfast for ten minutes, which is a great way of catching up with colleagues. Then its a mixture of e-mails, teleconference, meetings and planning.

Whats your busiest time of day?

First thing in morning, driven by time difference between the UK and our international markets. Im usually greeted by a sea of red e-mails each morning.

What brands/accounts have you worked on?

Boots and various sub-brands including No7, Botanics and Mediterranean Time Delay, plus various exclusive guest brands such as Toni & Guy and FCUK.

Best day at work:

I really enjoy days where I am actually out in the market visiting our stores; it is great seeing consumers interact with our products. I also like the days spent drawing up the Boots marketing plan with our partner retailers around the world.

Worst day at work:

I have a fear of flying so my worst day was probably when we flew into a horrendous thunderstorm over the Alps en route to Romania. Even my fearless marketing manager Tracy Winn was nervous!

Name one thing youve achieved that has made your bosses sit up and take notice:

As a marketer embracing finance and studying for my ACCA diploma in financial management. Outside of work, the speed at which I consume Kir Royales!

Ambitions:

To continue to combine my two passions: seeing the world and working on a strong British brand.

Advice to other rising stars:

If you work hard, play hard: find the right balance.

Quote from the boss:

Kathryns strengths include hard work; pragmatism, team working, sense of humour, tenacity, flexibility and broad-based marketing knowledge. Kathryns success over the last year has been her and her teams delivery of strong marketing plans and a toolkit for ongoing businesses, as well as the successful launches of Boots businesses in Russia and Romania.
