AdConnection has won the 5m media planning and buying account for specialist car marque Aquila, which is launching in the UK.

AdConnection has won the £5m media planning and buying account for specialist car marque Aquila, which is launching in the UK.

Aquila Sports Cars is aiming to take on rivals such as Morgan in the classic kit car market and is plotting a range of activities in the UK.

The campaign will feature print and experiential activity, focusing on car and lifestyle magazines, coupled with online advertising and presence in golf clubs, high street stores and product placement across film and TV.

The agency has also been tasked with appointing a creative agency to work alongside it.

The two-seater roadster kit car has been manufactured since April, but has its roots in the Marlin Roadster, which was first built by Rolls Royce engineer Paul Moorhouse in 1979.

Last month, AdConnection was appointed to handle the £1m media planning and buying business for online retailer CD Wow! to launch its first TV campaign, which runs to December.

In February, the independent agency appointed Catherine Becker as media director. Previously, she was a director at ZenithOptimedia.
