3 names Ireland chief

Susan Branchflower, who was UK head of customer marketing for mobile phone operator 3, has been promoted to head of marketing for 3 Ireland.

Branchflower takes on responsibility for the development of the 3 brand in Ireland, as well as advertising and channel marketing. She reports to 3 Ireland’s managing director, Robert Finnegan.

Before joining 3 UK, Branchflower was head of marketing at Video Networks, where she was behind the launch of Homechoice, the UK’s first interactive broadband TV service.

Branchflower says: "Irish consumers spend more on mobile services, such as texting, than many other countries in Europe. Research shows that heavy texters move quickly to new services like video highlights and mobile TV" – which means 3 has an opportunity to develop mobile media services specifically for Irish customers, she adds.

3 Ireland launched in 2005, and is 100%-owned by Hutchison Whampoa Group, which also owns 3G licenses in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Norway, Sweden and the UK. Worldwide, 3 has more than 13.5 million customers.
