Dunnhumby names head of FMCG

Dunnhumby, the data company that underpins the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme, has hired Ivor Burns as head of packaged goods (FMCG) for the UK and Ireland.

Burns held marketing positions at Asda and Unilever before moving to Accenture to develop customer relationship management programmes for clients across the UK and Europe. More recently, he has been working as a consultant, with clients including Camelot.

Dunnhumby is expanding the team that serves FMCG clients in response to increased demand. Burns is charged with helping clients focus on key consumer issues such as health and wellness.

He will report to UK managing director Peter Plumb, who joined Dunnhumby earlier this year from Disney, where he was general manager Europe for consumer products (MW June 1). Plumb, who also had a stint as international director of Dyson, took over at Dunnhumby from Steve Gray.

Burns says: "Dunnhumby leads the way in redefining how the industry approaches marketing to build sustainable brand value."
