Pravda wins Scotts ad task

Pravda, the Manchester-based agency, has been appointed to handle advertising for the Scotts fashion chain owned by sports retail group JD Sports. The account is believed to be worth around £1m.

Pravda was already working for Scotts on the design side.

JD Sports is the trading name of the John David Group, which was launched in 1981 with one store, now operates some 400 shops across the UK under a range of fascias, including JD Sports, First Sport and King of Trainers.

It also operates 46 fashion-led stores, which mainly trade under the Scotts fascia. The chain has stores in England and Scotland, retailing designer labels such as Hackett, Henri Lloyd, Paul and Shark, Lacoste and FCUK. The group also bought up all of the All:Sports stores recently and is in the process of relaunching selected premises under the Scott’s brand.

In 2005, the Pentland Group bought 57% of the John David Group: Pentland owns a range of sports and fashion brands, including Lacoste and Speedo.

MediaCom North handles media for JD Sports.

Pravda clients include Scottish Hydro Electric, Neilson holidays, Transform Medical Group and Hardys premium fishing equipment.
