‘Energising’ herbal sports drink crosses the Atlantic

Go Fast!, a US-based drinks brand, is planning to take on brands such as Lucozade Sport, Gatorade and Powerade by launching into the competitive UK energy drinks market.

The drink, named after its sister firm, the Go Fast! Sports clothing brand, has been developed specifically for extreme sports athletes.

It will launch in the UK imminently, although it is not clear who will handle sales and distribution.

Go Fast! contains milk thistle herb, which the company claims differentiates it from other energy drinks on the US market.

It also contains taurine, caffeine, guarana extract and Australian honey.

Both Go Fast! Original and low-calorie version Go Fast! Light are carbonated. They are known in the US for their pleasant taste, which is due to the honey that is used in place of the high fructose corn syrup common in other soft drinks.

The company claims that the drinks offer “a longer, smoother, more sustained energy boost than other high-sugar products on the market”.

Go Fast!, which was launched in 2001, was formulated with input from a variety of athletes but it is also popular with partygoers and students looking for an energy boost on a night out. It is available in 13 countries across South America, Africa and Europe.
