Cruise operator DFDS Seaways has handed its 1.5m marketing and advertising business to full-service agency Robson Brown.

The Newcastle-based shop, which also has offices in Manchester and London, won the account following a competitive pitch. It was previously held by a number of London-based agencies, including RMG Connect.

Robson Brown will handle the company’s national communications strategy, including creative and online work, and media planning and buying. It will initially focus on building the brand’s profile among consumers across the travel industry.

John Crummie, managing director of DFDS Seaways, says the agency’s in-depth knowledge of northern England and Scotland – core growth areas for the business – was a key factor in the decision.

Robson Brown was recently reappointed to handle bed retailer Dreams’ 25m media planning and buying account following a three-way pitch.
