Green & Black’s marketing director Mark Palmer is to leave the company after managing the integration of the organic chocolate brand into Cadbury Schweppes.

Carol Welch, who has worked at the firm since 1999 and moves across from Cadbury Schweppes on October 16, will fill the role.

Palmer, who will remain with the business as a director until February, has managed the luxury chocolate brand for the last five years.

Palmer was among five executive directors who shared in a 5m windfall in May last year following the sale of the business to confectionery giant Cadbury.

News of his departure follows the appointment of Starcom to handle Green & Black’s 2m media planning and buying account last week.

It is understood Palmer oversaw the pitch for the business, which Starcom won against a number of undisclosed agencies.
