Barclays Capital hunts agency for 8m global task

Barclays Capital, the investment banking arm of Barclays, is looking for a global advertising agency to handle its 8m account. The group is seeking to consolidate the account, which is currently split across a number of roster agencies worldwide.

The group, which is headed by Barclays group president Bob Diamond, is looking for a network with offices in London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo through a pitch, which is being overseen by the AAR.

It is understood that Barclays Capital is seeking an agency to develop a global brand campaign that will target global corporations, financial institutions and governments.

In the UK and Europe the business is handled by Doremus, an Omnicom-owned financial agency. The agency’s place on the roster is not thought to be affected by the global review.

The company has made a number of changes to its agency arrangements this year. In June, Dialogue Marketing Group, part of WPP’s Ogilvy Group, won a place on the roster to handle its Wealth Management Unit (MW June 1).
