Langdon returns with digital start up

Ben Langdon, one of the most controversial figures in advertising, is returning to the industry to run a new digital agency 13 months after he was ousted as chairman and chief executive of Euro RSCG.

Langdon, who was on a year’s gardening leave, is launching Digital Marketing Group (DMG). It will offer direct as well as digital marketing and has conditionally agreed to buy direct marketing agency Dig For Fire and digital business HSM.

Langdon left Euro RSCG in September last year following a turbulent 17 months. He joined the agency in March 2004 after quitting start-up Ben Mark Orlando, which he formed with former Euro RSCG chairman Mark Wnek.

During his time at Euro RSCG, the agency won LG Electronics, Superdrug and News International business. But the agency was also hit by a number of losses including British Heart Foundation and the 35m Argos business, which moved into Clemmow Hornby Inge.
