Pounding those mean NY streets for charity

It is that time of year again when good-hearted fitness freaks dust off their running shoes and fly to the Big Apple so they can take part in the New York City Marathon.

Among the marketing types already signed up are Ian Howarth and Chris Gordon from WWAV, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the agency’s relationship with children’s charity NSPCC.

Their colleagues at the agency have produced a trailer featuring slow motion footage of the pair in training, no doubt with the aim of stripping away whatever pride they had left.

It can be viewed on digital.wwavrc.co.uk/wwavrc/Email/landing_page/index. htm.

On the plus side, they are hoping to raise £25,000 for the charity’s There4Me confidential online advice service for 12to 16-year-olds. WWAV is also pledging to contribute 25p for every £1 raised. To support Chris and Ian, visit http://www.justgiving.com/ChrisandIan.

Also going is Dunnhumby analyst Mark Schmid, running in aid of the PSP Association, which raises funds for sufferers of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) – a neurodegenerative disease, which is at least as common and as devastating as motor neurone disease.

Mark hopes to raise £1,500, and potential sponsors can contact him on Mark. Schmid@dunnhumby.com.

The Diary wishes everyone good luck, and having seen that Bacardi ad, it recommends that they look out for pranksters dressed as fish running the wrong way.
