Microsoft moves Bishop to business and marketing role

Microsoft has appointed Matthew Bishop as its new business and marketing officer for the UK.

Bishop’s initial focus will be on the up-coming launch of Microsoft’s new operating system Vista, along with new versions of its flagship Office software package and exchange server program.

He is taking over from Nick Barley who was recently promoted to chief marketing officer for Microsoft UK. Barley had been in the job for the past four years.

Microsoft has yet to announce who will be replacing Barley in his previous role as director of the Development and Platform Group in the UK. He has also previously worked in a number of senior positions covering government sales across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He has been at the company since 1988.
