City Index retains The Gate for 2m media

Spread-betting company City Index has retained financial agency The Gate to handle its £2m media planning and buying account following a two-way pitch against Ptarmigan Media.

The review is part of a consolidation of the company’s media following the acquisition of spread-betting and foreign-exchange group IFX earlier this year. Ptarmigan handled the media for its Finspreads brand.

The Gate will be responsible for coordinating the media strategy across all parts of the business in the UK, Asia and the US.

In August the company, which is owned by City entrepreneur Michael Spencer, appointed Publicis Groupe-owned financial services specialist Masius to handle its £3m advertising account, following a pitch against three unnamed agencies (MW 24 Aug).
