BMW launches used car search for mobile

BMWBMW is launching a mobile phone service that allows customers to search for used cars in what the manufacturer claims is an industry first.

Users text the word "search" to text code 61100 and are sent a link to the mobile search system, which allows them to search by model or price from any BMW dealership in the UK. They can also search any approved used BMW stock offered by local dealers.

Searches can be narrowed down by fuel type, transmission and preferred options and results can be viewed on any WAP-enabled 2.5G or third-generation phone.

BMW (UK) says it is set to achieve record used-car sales through its dealership network this year. Figures from the manufacturer says that over 80,000 used BMWs and Minis had been sold by the end of October – an increase of 13.5% on the same period last year.
