DHL chief takes on Postcomm licensing role

John Ivers, the former DHL Global Mail UK managing director, has joined postal regulator Postcomm as director of licensing.

Ivers, who left DHL earlier this month (MW November 16), will report to the Postcomm management team, which also includes chairman Nigel Stapleton, chief executive Sarah Chambers and deputy chief executive Richard Moriarty.

Ivers, who will be director of licensing, framework and market intelligence, will be responsible for the licensing of Royal Mail and its competitors.

He has worked on the Business Customer Survey and the Competitive Market Review in his short time at the regulator.

Postcomm, the independent regulator for postal services, was established in 2000, under the Postal Services Act.

It is responsible for ensuring that a universal postal service is maintained, while promoting effective competition between postal operators in the interests of the consumer.

Stapleton was reappointed as the organisation’s chairman for a further four years at the start of this month, while Moriarty was promoted from director of competition to deputy chief executive earlier this year.

DHL is looking for a chief executive to replace Ivers. The role is being overseen by DHL Europe chief executive Paul Coutts. Ivers’ departure triggered a reshuffle of the company’s marketing department, with Rose Nave joining from DHL Germany as UK marketing director. She replaces Andy Barrett, who is thought to be joining corporate information solutions provider Williams Lea.
