Yell.com rolls out Food and Drink channel

Yell.com, the online directory, has launched a food and drink channel that aims to connect independent retailers with consumers.

Suppliers on the Food and Drink channel must accept internet or telephone orders, and offer to deliver the goods direct to customers. The company says it has been designed to help users find independent and specialist food and drink suppliers around the UK.

Yell.com president Eddie Cheng says: “We are supporting independent suppliers who don’t necessarily have a huge high street presence.”

The new site is divided into nine sections including health foods, meat and confectionery, as well as highlighting seasonal goods and other food issues.

Yell has also signed up celebrity content for the site, with recipes from Delia Smith, wine tips from Jancis Robinson and seasonal recipes and advice from food journalist Rosemary Moon.

Yell.com has a database of around 2 million UK business listings.
