Heekin replaces Meyer at Grey Global
Grey Global has promoted Jim Heekin to chairman and chief executive to replace Ed Meyer, who is retiring after 36 years in the role.
Heekin (pictured), who has been chairman and chief executive of Grey Worldwide since September last year, will oversee the advertising network and its below-the-line operation G2. He will continue in his role at Grey Worldwide.
The WPP Group-owned network has also created two new senior positions. G2’s chairman and chief executive Joe Celia will take on the additional role of vice-president of Grey Global, while Tim Mellors, president and chief executive of Grey Worldwide North America, becomes vice-chairman and chief creative officer.
Sir Martin Sorrell, WPP chief executive, says: "Jim Heekin will be focusing on raising Grey Global’s creative standards even further with the help of Tim Mellors and on its integrated offer, particularly in the area of internet, interactive and digital, with Joe Celia."
Heekin, who joined Grey last year from Euro RSCG Worldwide, says the appointment is the "highlight" of his professional life.
