Leo Burnett Worldwide has announced a restructure that sees UK chief executive Bruce Haines appointed to a new global management council (GMC).
The news follows the departure of European president Richard Pinder, who left to join Publicis as chief operating officer in October.
The restructure sees Leo Burnett Worldwide aligned more closely with its below-the-line network Arc – a model that has already been pioneered in Europe (MW March 30). Andrew Edwards, president of Arc EMEA, also joins the GMC, which will report to Leo Burnett Worldwide chairman and chief executive Tom Bernardin.
The creation of the GMC means Pinder is not being directly replaced. Edwards takes on responsibility for Leo Burnett and Arc in Israel and the Nordic and Benelux regions, while Miguel Angel Furones becomes president of Leo Burnett Iberia.
Bernardin says: “What served us as a structure five years ago is already outdated. This move recognises our clients’ evolving needs, the new realities of the consumer and media landscape, and our desire to fully harness the dynamism of emerging markets worldwide.”
Marc Landsberg, president of Arc Worldwide, is leaving the company at the start of next year as part of the restructure.
