NEC signs as tech partner for The O2

Electronics giant NEC has signed a multi-million pound deal with AEG to become a founding partner of The O2, formerly the Millennium Dome, which is due to launch next July. It will be the official technology provider.

NEC has also been granted branding and signage rights throughout The O2 with a dedicated area to demonstrate its products and future innovations in technology to selected guests.

Since granting the naming and mobile rights to network O2 – NEC’s largest UK customer – in May 2005 AEG has been in negotiations with various sectors to develop founding partnerships. Other partners now include Credit Suisse and InBev UK, which is the official alcohol partner.

In November, AEG Europe launched its first advertising campaign, created by agency Think Farm, for The O2 to showcase the site as a major music, entertainment and sports destination.
