Mobizines expands to US and Germany

Refresh Mobile, the independent mobile magazine publishing company, is launching its “Mobizines” product in the US and Germany. The news follows the recent launch of Mobizines in South Africa.

The US deal will see titles including Forbes and Reuters launched as mobizines, or mobile magazines. Refresh has also announced a partnership with operator 3 that gives customers on the network unlimited access to Mobizine titles for a fixed monthly fee.

The Mobizine service was launched in February and has just reached 200,000 downloads. Chief executive Scott Beaumont says: “This year we have achieved our two main objectives: to introduce a compelling and user-friendly mobile content service to the consumer market, as well as to develop a service that our partners recognise as making a difference to their bottom line.”

Refresh, which was launched last year from the buy-out of T-Mobile’s news express service, appointed Elaine Devereux as its first marketing and brands director earlier this year. She joined from T-Mobile.

Brands including OK!, Time Out and the BBC have launched mobizines since its launch.
