Visa Europe has poached Levi-Strauss marketer Mariano Dima as executive vice-president marketing and products.

He take responsibility for advertising, marketing, sponsorships and product development at the company.

Visa Europe chief executive Peter Ayliffe says: “This is a very strategic appointment for Visa Europe as the payments industry is at a turning point in Europe with the creation of a Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) at the start of 2008 and an increasingly competitive market. The broad skills and experience Dima brings will be a great asset to Visa Europe in driving consumer preference for the brand and as we launch new and innovative products such as contactless cards.”

Dima moves from Levi-Srtrauss Europe where he was European vice-president of marketing. He was responsible for advertising, public relations, digital, CRM and trademarks.
