ITV confirms Salmon’s departure
ITV has today confirmed director of marketing and commercial strategy Clare Salmon is to leave the broadcaster. Salmon, who joined in January 2005 as marketing director, will leave at the end of this year.
She replaced Jim Hytner who became marketing director at banking giant Barclays. Salmon says in a statement: “I have had a great two years at ITV but feel it’s time to go back to a more operational role in line with my general management track record.”
During her tenure, she led the relaunch of the ITV brand and overhauled the agency roster. She appointed MindShare to handle the media planning and buying and brought in M&C Saatchi to evaluate the brand, which led to incumbent Bartle Bogle Hegarty resigning the account.
Salmon was promoted to her current role in October 2005 when David Pemsel, a former St Luke’s partner, was brought in as marketing director.
