Napster launches Christmas radio service

Napster

Napster is launching five dedicated Christmas radio stations for the holiday season.

The online music download service is rolling out a service that will allow subscribers to access a number of playlists from a range of genres with a Christmas theme. The genres range from a "traditional" Christmas playlist to jazz-based tunes.

Napster members can access Napster Christmas Radio for free, and all Napster To Go members will be able to download tracks to their media players for no extra charge via napster.co.uk.

Earlier this year Napster signed deals with Intel (MW August 17) and Film4 in an effort to encourage legal purchasing and downloading of music over the internet.

The announcement of a flat-rate monthly fee for all downloads came alongside their ‘Music On Demand’ strapline in November.

Since its launch in 2003, Napster has become one of the leading online music downloading sites in the UK.
