Match Day Media, the in-stadium television company, is extending its network into music after signing a three-year deal with the Manchester Evening News Arena. It will launch in January.

The deal extends MDM.TV’s digital network from 14 football stadiums, including Arsenal FC and Celtic Rangers FC. The screens will show advertisements, text messages and pictures, and will offer music fans the chance to win an “upgrade” to a VIP ticket.

Gerry McKenna, chief executive of MDM.TV, says the move into music is a “natural progression”. He adds: “By extending our offering from football to music demonstrates the strength of our network at reaching and engaging consumers.”

The MEN Arena is Europe’s largest indoor concert venue and has a capacity of 21,000. It has hosted the IK Ice Hockey Championships and International Table Tennis Championships.
