Aegon in three-year yachting sponsorship

Insurance provider Aegon UK has secured a three-year sponsorship deal with Shirley Robertson, the Olympic gold medalist yachtswoman.

Aegon plans to use the new tie-up to bolster its management development programme with a focus on improving communication and motivation among senior staff.

As part of the deal Robertson will hold a series of development workshops and seminars at the company’s Edinburgh-based headquarters alongside other locations throughout the UK.

Aegon UK will also provide backing for the athlete as she prepares to compete in future sporting events, including the forthcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Robertson, who was involved in the successful London 2012 bid, is the only British female athlete to have won gold medals at consecutive Olympic Games, including the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 events.
