Agency hunt sparked at RFL

The RFL, Rugby League’s governing body, has begun the search for an agency to provide broadcasting and new media consultancy services and oversee worldwide rights sales as it moves to consolidate its media arrangements.

The governing body is for the first time also seeking a single media agency to oversee both new media opportunities encompassing internet and mobile technology services alongside worldwide rights deals.

The brief includes negotiating the broadcast packages for the RFL. This includes the broadcast rights to the sport’s flagship knock-out competition The Challenge Cup which currently attracts an audience of over 10 million viewers.

The tender document is currently being circulated to relevant organisations including the incumbent on the account, TWI.

As part of the pitch process, agencies will be asked to demonstrate their ability to expand coverage of rugby league globally as part of the governing body’s international development goals.
