US technology giant Cisco Systems is branching out into the outdoor sector with the launch of two products which will allow advertisers to update outdoor campaigns via the internet.
Cisco says its Digital Signage provides a solution that offers easy management, publishing and playback of digital media on networked digital signage displays. According to the US company, it has "the potential to redefine how organisations connect with their employees and customers".
The company is rolling out two products under the Cisco Digital Signage umbrella, called Cisco Digital Media Manager and Cisco Digital Media Player.
Media Manager is a web-based software application that controls the creation, management and publishing of digital media on digital displays. It allows advertisers to remotely manage individual and groups of digital signs connected to Cisco Digital Media Players, and means they can upload rich media and video content when needed. Media Player is a device that controls playback of video, graphics and text on digital displays.
Cisco says the new products will mean companies can roll out highly targeted campaigns and promotions, adapting them in real time. It adds that other possibilities include communications or training information in government offices, information in hotels, airports or other public places, or news and information in hospital waiting rooms.
