It’s not the best winter for Ian Botham

Before the Ashes the Diary correctly mused that an ad campaign for Welsh lamb and beef could have repercussions for those loveable cricketing supporters of English meat – Beefy and Lamby.

Not only did England roll over in distressing fashion against Australia (much to Botham’s chagrin), it has been announced that Beefy and Lamby’s website may bite the dust thanks to a Cabinet Office review of government sites.

The Hutton Inquiry website is also listed for closureso the Diary asks if there should be a Mutton Inquiry into Beefy and Lamby’s fate.
