O2 picks head of consumer marketing in restructure
O2 has appointed Peter Rampling as its top consumer marketer as part of a marketing department reshuffle.
Rampling, previously head of business marketing, replaces Sally Cowdry as head of consumer marketing. She was promoted to marketing director last year following the promotion of Russ Shaw to capability and innovation director (MW May 25, 2006).
The telecoms operator will also move Shadi Halliwell, who works on its consumer marketing team, to the role of head of brand and marketing communications to replace Susie Moore, who goes on maternity leave next month.
The company is seeking a replacement for Rampling, who will report to Cowdry in his new role. Halliwell and the new head of business marketing will also report to Cowdry.
O2 moved sponsorship under the remit of head of brand experience Amanda Jennings at the end of last year following the departure of Paul Samuels (MW November 9, 2006).
Samuels left to join global sports marketing agency The Bonham Group to develop the brand in Europe.
Shaw was moved to the new position of capability and innovation director in May, after the mobile giant created a 100-strong division to look into new technologies, including broadband.
O2 bought broadband provider Be last year but has yet to launch a high-speed internet service. Rival Vodafone launched its broadband offering this month.
