Pangora launches travel comparision site

Pangora, the search technology specialist owned by Lycos, is launching a travel price comparison and search portal. The new service will allow users to search and compare prices for flights and will add hotels and holiday packages later this year.

The Pangora travel service will launch initially on Lycos’ shopping channel and it has already signed up retail partners including Opodo, Nofrills, Wegolo, Air Berlin, MyTravel and Skytours. Pangora says it expects to sign up new partners in the coming weeks.

Pangora powers a number of third-party media owner sites’ shopping portals, such as AOL, Yell.com, and Virgin.net. It aims to roll out its new service across its European platform partners following a trial on Lycos.

Rob Staunton, head of Pangora UK, says: “The launch of the travel price comparison service adds another string to the Pangora bow. It means we can offer our portal partners a service that will add e-commerce functionality where they have existing travel channels.”
