Rock ‘n’ roll music event in hunt for UK sponsors

A music event that aims to bring together amateur musicians and rock legends for gigs and master classes is seeking headline sponsors ahead of its launch this year.

The five-day camp, which will be held in May, will include performances and classes by Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, Jack Bruce of Cream and Gary Brooker of Procol Harum.

The event, which has already launched in the US, has worked with music TV station VH1 and has sponsorship deals with music companies Gibson guitars, Marshall amplification and GBL speakers.

Valerie Brown, a spokeswoman for the camp, says it is seeking a similar level of sponsorship for the UK event but it is also looking for interested companies from categories such as soft drinks and credit cards.

She adds: “There is always massive media coverage when we hold our camps. We’re already planning a reality show and an extensive Web offering.”

A US reality show is in the pipeline for autumn 2007 with a possibility of a UK version running simultaneously.

The company is also planning a documentary to raise awareness of what it calls “a chance of a life time”. It is understood to be in talks with a number of production companies about the show.
